Willie Gordon Wagoner

Mr. Willie Gordon Wagoner, age 83, of North Wilkesboro, went home to be with the Lord, July 27,2021 at his home.

 He was born February 23, 1938 in Wilkes County to Benjamin Harrison and Mertie Royal Wagoner. Mr. Wagoner was a member of Jesus Church in McGrady. He traveled with his family playing and singing gospel music. He also enjoyed singing and playing gospel music with his friends at the Senior Center in Fairplains.  He enjoyed spending time in his woodshop building and creating things out of wood.

 Mr. Wagoner was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lockie Marie Absher Wagoner, a son, Timothy Gordon Wagoner; grandson, Jason Randall Elledge; granddaughter, Christina Hope Brown; brothers, Odell, Vernon and Ray Wagoner; and sisters Marie Royal, Chessie Mae Shumate, and Vener Royal.

Surviving are; three daughters, Rita Wagoner Plyler and husband George of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Glenna Minton and husband Donnie of Granite Falls, Levonda Rutherford Griffin and husband Tim of McGrady; one son, Daniel Wagoner and wife Kim of Woodruff, South Carolina; three sisters Gladys Stamper of McGrady, Lorene Wood of McGrady and Peggy Jean Edwards and husband Junior of North Wilkesboro.; six grandchildren, Vicie Renee Rutherford, April Wagner, Cherdawna Brittian, Adrianna Rutherford, Duran King, Harvey Wagoner, Jr.; twelve great grandchildren, Cole Rutherford, Christian Rutherford, Scott Wagner, Jr., Alisha Brittian Munson, Skylar Wagner, Candace Brittian, Tori Wagner, Faith Rutherford, Hunter Wagoner, Samaria Wagoner, Brooklyn Brittian, Sierra King; and 9 great great grandchildren.

 Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donny Shumate and Rev. Don Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in Jesus Church Cemetery in McGrady. The family will receive friends at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Friday, July 30, 2021.
