Mr. William Miller Pearson, better known as Bill, age 85 of McGrady passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his home.
A private family service will be held.
Mr. Pearson was born May 9, 1935, in Wilkes County to Joseph H. Pearson and Laura Miller Pearson. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Pearson donated the land that began the first phase of the Yadkin River Greenway. Mr. Pearson loved the outdoors and wanted everyone to have a place that they could enjoy. Mr. Pearson attended Mountain Valley Church of McGrady. He was a member of Wilkesboro Methodist Church. He served in the National Guard.
Mr. Pearson was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vida Absher Pearson of McGrady, two sons, David Absher Pearson and spouse Rebecca of Marlton, New Jersey, Andrew Mark Pearson of Wilkesboro, and a daughter, Susan Pearson Buchanan and spouse, Doug of Wilkesboro. He is survived by three grandsons, William Buchanan of Wilkesboro, Dennis Barrera of Tokyo Japan, and Jim Barrera of New York City. He is survived by a sister, Jane Pearson Lowe and spouse, JL Lowe of Elkin and a brother, Thomas D. Pearson and spouse, Tressa, of Charlotte.
