Mr. William Kenneth “Tim” Walsh, age 94, of Ferguson, met his Heavenly Father on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Wilkesboro Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Hefner and Rev. Roger Underwood officiating. Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard and U.S. Air Force Honor Guard will be at Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM in Wilkesboro Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall prior to the service.
Tim was born on July 2, 1931, in Wilkes County to Lester Fred and Annie Mae Walsh. He was a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church, where he attended Dr. Kilby’s Sunday School class. Tim served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant with the 63d Communications Squadron, working as the radio operator. He was awarded commendations during his service, including the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
Tim was self-employed following his service in the Air Force, becoming the owner and operator of Walsh’s Superette in Ferguson. He later served as co-owner and manager of Quality Builders Supply in North Wilkesboro and Quality Ford Tractor in Boone. He was a member of the Ferguson Grange and the Wilkes County Cattlemen’s Association. Through his work, he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of those who knew him.
A lifelong resident of the Ferguson community, he held a deep appreciation for its heritage, traditions, and the people who called it home. Tim found great joy in working on his farm, where he raised cattle for many decades. He thrived in the outdoors and took pride in the life he built there. Whether tending to the land or sharing time with others, he was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
As an avid reader and world traveler, Tim had a deep curiosity about the world and a lifelong love of learning. He encouraged others to stay informed, think critically, and never stop seeking knowledge. His steady presence, strong work ethic, and appreciation for both simple pleasures and meaningful conversations left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Eloise Pearson Walsh; sisters, Sue Walsh Shew, Cleo Walsh Huskey; four brothers, Bob Walsh, Bernard Walsh, Larry Walsh, Zelotese Walsh; nieces, Melody Shew Mathis, Diana Walsh Goodman, and nephew, Tommy Huskey.
Mr. Walsh is survived by three daughters, Sandy Walsh Tilley and husband David of North Wilkesboro, Amy Walsh Braica and husband John of High Point, Beth Walsh Cheek and husband Al of Advance; grandchildren, Josh Tilley (Taylor), Matthew Tilley (Cory Johnson), Julianna Knollmann (Alex), Hunter Day (Shelby), Will Cheek, Katy Cheek; great-grandchildren, Hannah Tilley, Kennedy Tilley, Joanna Tilley, Whit Knollmann, Eloise Knollmann, Beau Knollmann and very dear friend, Kathy Woods.
