William Adkins Long, Sr.

Mr. William Adkins Long, Sr. age 84 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Willie Jackson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

He was born on December 18, 1940, in Wilkes County, to George William and Evie Mitchell Long.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He loved the University of North Carolina Tarheel basketball team and the Atlanta Braves baseball team.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jeremy Saner and Jaylon Long; and brother Thornton Long.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Carlton Long; daughter, Melissa Saner (Jerry) of Hamptonville; two sons, William Long Jr. (Robin) of North Wilkesboro and Brent Long (Jamie) of North Wilkesboro; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Lloyd, William Mitchell, Taryn Long, Trent Long, Brookelyn Long. Erin Saner, Katelyn Saner, Tyler Saner, Giniya Bailey, Morgan Holden and Cameron Ferrell; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Long of North Wilkesboro.
