William "Tam" Cheek

Mr. William “Tam” Cheek, age 72, of Wilkesboro passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Hall, Pastor Brian Cardwell and Brother Larry Key Officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:30 prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.

Tam was born on June 4, 1953, in Wilkes County to William Fellman and Betty Jane Billings Cheek. He was well known for his love for the Lord, his humor, and his servant’s heart. He used his carpentry skills to serve and bless many within his church and community, always offering his hands where they were needed most. He was a proud Honor Graduate from Gardner-Webb University. After more than 25 years of dedicated work with Lowe’s Companies, he retired with the same integrity he strived for through every part of his life. Above all, his family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Fellman Cheek and Betty Jane Billings Cheek.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Minton Cheek of the home; sons, Joseph Cheek (Missy) of Murrells Inlet, SC, William Thomas Cheek (Jordan) of Yadkinville, NC; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Ryan Brush), Makayla (Noah Garland), Sydney, Madelyn, grandson on the way; great-grandchildren, Lucy & Juliet Brush; sister, Karen (Grant Souther) of Millers Creek, NC; brother, Jody Cheek (Heather) of Shallotte, NC; and many loved nieces and nephews.
