Mrs. Willa Mae Smithey Waddell, age 92 of North Wilkesboro passed away Monday, January 5, 2025, at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2025 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Joel Blevins officiating. Entombment will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Willa Mae was born October 14, 1933, in Wilkes County to Otto and Clara Johnson Smithey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters; Gladys Anderson, Ruth Rhoades, Lucille Brown, Joyce Hutchins and three brothers; Ralph Smithey, Worth Smithey and Wayne Smithey.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years; Robert “Bobby” Kermit Waddell of the home, two daughters; Jeanie Johnson (Eddie) of Millers Creek, Bobbie Waddell of Winston-Salem, a son; Kermit Waddell (Kim) of North Wilkesboro, five grandchildren; Karen Sheets, Nikki Osborne, Jeff Osborne (Elizabeth), Cameron Waddell (Ronda), Anastasia Nichols (Michael), eleven great grandchildren; Mackenzie Boles (Erik), J.C. Curry, Dalton Curry, Reagan Osborne, Holly Mae Osborne, Olivia Osborne, Justice Waddell, Addison Waddell, Brooks Waddell, Copelan Nichols, Quincy Nichols, one great-great granddaughter; Sophia Boles, two sisters; Jeri Burkhart (Jerry) of Longs, SC, Debbie Bare of Moravian Falls and a brother; Clayton Smithey (Katherine) of Greensboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fishing Creek Baptist Church, 1191 Old 60, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
