Wilbur Cain Obituary

Wilbur Junior “June” Cain 85, of Traphill, NC passed away on June 17, 2022 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He was born on April 25, 1937 in Mocksville, NC to the late Carl C. and Sarah Cain. Wilbur “June” attended the Davie County School System, he worked as a machinist for Chatham Mfg Company and retired after 52 years of service. Wilbur “June” was preceded in death by his wife Amelia Spicer Cain and siblings, Clifton Cain, Evola Ellison, Millie West, Garfield Cain, Roland Cain, and Hilda Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday June 26, 2022 at Reins-Sturdivant  Chapel with Rev. Roy Brown, Rev. Ronald Howell and Rev. Ronald Speas officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Wilbur “June” was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church where he was a member for over 50 years. During his membership he served as a Deacon for 50+ years. He was an active member in the church serving in many roles such as, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, and delegate to the Yadkin Valley Association. He was a faithful member and often was the first to volunteer for whatever the church needed. Wilbur “June” was extremely passionate about his church and God’s work!

Wilbur “June” had a green thumb and anything that he planted grew in abundance. It gave him great joy to share his vegetables with friends, family, and the community. He was very well known around the area for his kindness and generosity to others. He loved people and he never met a stranger! His laughter was contagious and brought smiles to many.

Wilbur leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Pam (Wayne) Reynolds of Advance NC, Linda Cain (Fiancé Reginald Jordan), Rita Cain, Karen (Gary) Henderson all of Charlotte; three granddaughters, T.J. Reynolds-Emwanta of Advance, NC, Jasmine and Zoe Henderson of Charlotte NC; one grandson-in-law, Felix Emwanta of Advance, NC; one great granddaughter, Daijah Emwanta of Advance NC; two sisters, Lillie Mae Scott and Faye (Richard) Carter both of Mocksville NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Wilbur “June” cherished children and was a father figure to many. He loved the joy that children brought to his life, but there was no greater joy for Wilbur “June” than the joy of his granddaughters and great granddaughter.

The family wishes to thank the physicians and nursing staff at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Health Center and Harris Hospice Center for the wonderful care and concern for Wilbur “June” in his final days. Additionally, we would like to thank everyone for all of their love, prayers, and support during this time. Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
