Mr. Arthur Ward Eller, age 92 of Ferguson passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Reach Center with Rev. Kevin Brown, Rev. David Wellborn and Rev. Dale Jennings officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM prior to the service in the Reach Center.
Ward was born May 24, 1930 in Wilkes County to Roby McNeil and Katrina Eller. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and worked in the Wilkes County School System for 33 years as a teacher, coach and principal. In 1989 he was Principal of the year and a member of retired school personnel. Ward served in the United States Army and he was past Commander and Quartermaster of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142. He was a member of the Honor Guard and Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club and was instrumental in their formation. Ward was a very accomplished, award winning musician.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Marsha Kerley and Mary Shelton, two brothers; Ernest Huffman and Arthur Huffman.
He is survived by his wife; Kate Foster Eller of the home, a daughter; Karen (Ty) Worley of McGrady, a son; Doug (Alisa) Eller of Purlear, three grandchildren; Kendall (Travis) Steelman, Brittany (Cory) Bryson, TJ Worley, two great grandchildren; Harper Steelman, Brody Rip Steelman, two sisters; Joan Beshears of North Wilkesboro and Claudine (John) Bell of Statesville.
