Wanda "Ann" (Settle) Hoots

Mrs. Wanda “Ann” Settle Hoots, age 77 of Millers Creek passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Heavenbound Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Settle and Rev. Tim Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in Benham Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM prior to the service at the church. 

Ann was born on November 23, 1945, in Surry County to Clarence Henry Settle and Vestie Victoria Weatherman Settle.

Ann was a pianist, organist, and gospel singer most of her life.  She played for several churches and various gospel groups.  Ann loved gardening, hummingbirds, going to flea markets and traveling.  She loved her family and taking care of them and loved helping people and visiting nursing homes.  She was a retired CNA.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Settle and one sister-in-law, Kay Settle.

She is survived by her husband, Jacob Jeffrey Hoots; one daughter, Trenda Macemore and husband Larry of Elkin; two grandchildren, Christopher Macemore and Calvin Macemore; and one brother, Rev. Jimmy Settle and wife Janet of Elkin.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
