It is with sadness that we share the passing of our dear mother, Virginia Dare Foster Williams, 92, of Statesville, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. However, we rejoice in the fact that she is now healed and with Jesus.
A private graveside service will be held.
Virginia was born on December 18, 1933, in Wilkes County to the late Herman and Sarah Curry Foster. Her faith in God provided her assurance and strength throughout her life. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and particularly enjoyed gospel music. As a loyal UNC Tar Heel basketball fan, she enthusiastically watched their games on TV. She greatly cherished her family. Her independent and determined nature served her well in lovingly raising her three children.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Margie Foster Anderson, and brother, Donald Gene Foster.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Cathy Annas and husband David; sons, Bruce Duncan, and wife Vickie; and Ronnie Duncan, and wife Lori. In addition, she is survived by two grandsons, Brian Duncan and wife, Courtney, and Jason Duncan and wife, Kate, three great-grandchildren, Reese, Ella, and Ryder.
She held close to her heart dear friends and loved ones Rachel Harrold, the late Bonnie Davis, Roger, Allen, Pat, Jim, and Mike Williams. She treasured her relationships with nieces, Carolyn Cockerham, Barbara Blevins, and Darlene Billings who provided her with love and support.
We extend our appreciation to her home caregivers: Billie, Judy, Anita and Amber for their wonderful care and friendship; as well as, the caring staff from Hospice Care of Iredell including Katrina, Jody, Joann, Pam, and Sarah. Hospice provided in home care which improved her quality of life. When Virginia transitioned to the Gordon Hospice House for a short time, she was compassionately given the services needed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in our mother’s name may be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1298 Antioch Church Road, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
