Vernon Erwin Hawks, age 79 of Millers Creek passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at his home.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Scenic Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Mahan officiating. Military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard will be given.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Daniel Casstevens, Nathan Sweet, and Tracy Luther.

He was born November 26, 1945, in New Haven County, CT to Floyde Erwin and Mary Ann Solar Hawks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Vernon James Hawks and Jeffrey Erwin Hawks.

He is survived by a son, Douglas Averrte of Cameron, MO; grandchildren, three sisters, Linda Bidetti (Tom) of Weddington, NC, Roberta Barney (Arthur) of Charlotte, NC, Donna Sweet (Ray) of North Wilkesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
