Vernon Eugene Blackburn, Jr.

Vernon Eugene Blackburn, Jr., better known as Junior, husband of Karen Blackburn, died Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Watauga Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. James Wingler and Rev. Jeff Blackburn officiating.  Burial will be at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Mr. Blackburn was born October 23, 1970 in Wilkes County to Vernon Eugene Blackburn, Sr. and Mary Sue Shew Blackburn.  Junior was a member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church and owner/manager of Blackburn Grading and Excavating. He enjoyed riding his ATV, and participating in drag racing and dirt track racing, and working on old cars.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Walker Blackburn, of the home; two sons, Zack Blackburn and Garrett Blackburn, both of North Wilkesboro; his father, Vernon Blackburn, Sr.; and his brother, Shone Blackburn and wife, Tonya, of North Wilkesboro; his in-laws, Dean and Brenda McManus; a sister-in-law, Kimberly Taylor and fiancé, Travis Alvis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
