Mr. Thomas “Tom” Wesley Sidden, age 74 of North Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Fairplains Baptist Church with Pastor David Dyer, Rev. Chris Johnson and Rev. Julius Blevins officiating.  Burial with military Honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Tom was born October 5, 1950, in Wilkes County to Wesley Chester and Mary Lou Stamper Sidden.

Tom served as a Deacon at Mountain View Baptist Church in Hays.  He was a member of the Mtn. View Ruritan Club and served 3 terms as club president.  He was a member of the Wilkes County Cruisers and truly enjoyed cruise-ins and Ford vehicles.

He was an easy-going man with many, many talents.  He served in the United States Army from April 1970 until February 1972.  He also served the Army National Guard from December 1980 until June 1999.

After his army enlistment, including a year in Vietnam; he worked a couple of jobs and then started a 20 plus year career at Wilkes Telephone, retiring as an outside plant engineer.  Soon afterwards, he started another career of flipping houses with his daughter and son, while raising cattle.  He was always busy but found the greatest love of all when keeping his first granddaughter, Kylee.  This love kept growing as the other five were born.  The word “PawPaw” brought much joy to his life.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He will be forever missed!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters; Kathy, Carolyn, Bertha, Mary Lois “Sissy” and four brothers; Bill, Jerry, Daniel and Kenneth Ray.

He is survived by his wife of over 54 years; Shirley Reeves Sidden of the home, a daughter Jamie Sidden Benton (Kolton Smith), a son; Scott Sidden both of North Wilkesboro, grandchildren; Kylee, Zoey, Korben, Emma, Rylan, Bailey and three brothers; Bob Sidden (Nancy) of China Grove, Steven Sidden (Robin) of Hays and Christopher Sidden (Julie) of Sparta.  He was so proud and fond of his nieces and nephews that have been so loving to visit and help with whatever.

The family wishes a special thanks to Laurie, Kendall, Nancy and Barbara with Pruitt Hospice, who showed up to help through the most difficult days.  We forever love and appreciate all our family members and George and Lisa for their support and help.
