Mr. Thomas “Tom” Ray Johnston, age 84, of North Wilkesboro passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Liberty Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Sparks and Mr. Mitchell Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.                  

Tom was born July 26, 1941, in Wilkes County to Brice David and Virginia Anderson Johnston. He was a member of Union Odd Fellow Lodge #331, Past Grand Master of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows of North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother; Timothy Johnston. 

He is survived by his wife; Nancy Hawkins Johnston of the home, daughter; Lisa Livengood (Terry) of North Wilkesboro, two grandchildren; Kramer Livengood (Maggie) of Hays, Allison Livengood of Avon, Colorado, two great-grandchildren; Addison and Kason Livengood of Hays.
