Thomas Goode Stratton, Sr.

Mr. Thomas Goode Stratton, Sr. age 97 of Wilkesboro passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 

At this time no services are scheduled.  

Mr. Stratton was born December 10, 1922 in Chicago, IL. to Gardner William and Cora French Stratton. 

Mr. Stratton served in the United States Navy during World War II as a 2nd Class Signalman.  He was Admiral Staff on the USS Philadelphia which was a heavy cruiser and spent most of his time in the Mediterranean during the North Africa Campaign.  Mr. Stratton was a registered Architect, belonged to AIAA and worked for several years in the Chicago area and later in private practice designing large residential homes. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Arlene Arneson Stratton, two sisters; Betty and Dorothy and five brothers; James, Bob, Gardner, Bill, Seth and one infant brother. 

He is survived by one daughter; Barbara Jean Erdel and husband Robert of Downers Grove, ILL, two sons; Thomas Goode Stratton, Jr. and wife Jeanette of Moravian Falls and James Arneson Stratton and wife Insuk of Taylorsville, four grandchildren; Samantha Erdel, Ryan Erdel, Rebekah Aden and Debra Faison, four great grandchildren; Andy Hann, Leslie Faison, Jeremiah Aden and Leviticus Aden and two great great grandchildren; Matthew and Harper. 

The family request no flowers memorials may be made to Smyrna Baptist Church, 6174 Church Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
