Mr. Thomas Edwin McGinnis, age 87 of Mooresville, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Terra Bella Assisted Living in Mooresville.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 11635 Statesville Road, North Wilkesboro, with Pastor Randy Campbell officiating. Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Mr. McGinnis was born July 28, 1937, in Mecklenburg County to Ernest and Edith Kerley McGinnis. He was a member at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Shirley Russell, Doris Stegall, Juanita Jarman, and Marviean Mullis; two brothers, Ray McGinnis and Mack McGinnis; and daughter-in-law, Chris McGinnis.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Ferrel Gant McGinnis; four sons, Thomas “Tommy” McGinnis (Lisa) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jon McGinnis (Kelly) of Mooresville, Richard McGinnis (Tina) of Mooresville, and Robert McGinnis (Becky) of York, SC; ten grandchildren, Kirby McGinnis of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kassidy McGinnis of Myrtle Beach, SC, Will McGinnis of New York, Alex McGinnis of Charlotte, Bethany Gilleland (Cole) of Rock Hill, SC, Taylor Estanislao (Jericho) of Huntersville, Madison Armstrong (Chad) of Cleveland, J.T. McGinnis of York, SC, Jacob McGinnis of Dallas, and Joshua McGinnis of York, SC; one great-grandchild, Mila Estanislao; and one brother, Ronnie McGinnis (Vickie) of Cornelius.
