Mr. Donald Taylor Brown, age 89 of Moravian Falls passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 17, 2023, at Wilkesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Roberts officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday night at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  Mr. Brown will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard will be in Moravian Falls Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born on March 14, 1934, in Pocahontas, Virginia to Cyrus Dewey Brown and Fannie Mae Brown.  He was a member of the East Coast Drag Times and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014, a board member of the Moravian Falls Fire Department, a member of Wilkes County Cruisers and Moravian Falls Optimist Club.   He served in the US Army from 1958 until 1964 where he received the 1960 US Army Equipment 2½ ton Truck Driver Champion award.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Marie Foreman Brown; three sisters, Hope Pennell, Jewel Pruitt, Analee Lewis; one brother, Rex Brown; and two brothers-in-law, Doyle Pruitt and Eddie Lewis.

He is survived by two sons, Donnie Brown and wife Julia of Oak Island, NC and Donnie Disharoon and wife Melinda of Mooresville, NC; two grandsons, Jacob Ross Brown, Joshua Taylor Brown; one granddaughter, Kayla Disharoon; and one brother-in-law Fred Pennell of Weaverville, NC.
