She was born on May 4, 1956 to the late John E. Hairston Sr. and Elaine Rucker-Hairston of Powhatan, WV. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Powhatan WV.  She was a faithful member of Grace Kingdom Life Ministries where she sang in the choir and served on the Marcie J. Her strength, love, perseverance, faith, kindness, meekness and compassion were attributes she deligently instilled into her family in which she obtained from the Holy spirit that came from within.  To know here was to lover her.  She stood for what was right and would not waiver.

She is preceded in death by her husband Wayman N. Witcher, Sr., sister, Sheila Hairston, two brothers, Reginald Hairston and Blaine Hairston, Sr.
