Shirley Ann ("Susie") Wiles

Shirley Ann “Susie” Wiles, of North Wilkesboro, passed away in peace on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Atrium Health hospital in North Wilkesboro. Susie was born October 6,1950, a beloved daughter of Elbert and Ruby Pruitt Wiles. Born and raised in the Christian Home Church area of Traphill, Susie possessed a spirit of determination that has and continues to serve as an example for all who knew her.

To her family and loved ones, Susie was known as a doting animal lover, having several, much-loved four-legged companions over the years. She is also remembered for being a loving caretaker for her many nieces and nephews in their youth. Susie hardly disguised her feelings, and in her treatment of loved ones her affection was unmistakable.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Margaret Wiles, Roger Wiles, Pauline Caudill and Carolyn Osborne.

She will be dearly missed by her surviving siblings Jack Wiles, Helen Blackburn, Tathel (Trixie) Faircloth and husband Stanley, Danny Wiles and wife Vanessa, honorary sister Gayle Cook, as well as her many nieces and nephews. In particular, her niece, Joy Sasser, and sister, Tathel Faircloth are recognized for their devotion to Susie in her later years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 5, 2025, at New Covenant Baptist Church in Hays, NC with Rev. Larry Adams and Pastor Chad Reavis officiating. The burial will be in the church cemetery, and the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the church service.

Pallbearers will be John Sasser, Terence Shumate, Danny Wiles, Jr., Justin Wiles, Jamie Prevette, and Phil Caudill.
