Mr. Sherrill Herbert Faw, age 83 of North Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Wilkesboro Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Hefner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church. A family Entombment will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum on Monday.
Sherrill was born May 6, 1942, in Wilkes County to Conley and Ruth Shepherd Faw. Sherrill was one of Wilkes County and North Carolina’s most prolific home builders. He had a remarkable career spanning more than five decades. At age 83, he remained active in real estate, marking 52 years as a licensed broker. Over his lifetime, he built thousands of homes – more than 2,900 in Wilkes County alone – helping generations of families achieve home ownership. He was named NC Builder of the year in 1988, led multiple state and local business associations, and was inducted into the NC Housing Hall of Fame. His legacy includes not just homes, but thriving communities shaped by his vision and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; Joyce Blevins Faw of the home, two daughters; April Marr and husband Jessie of Wilkesboro, Beckie Spears and husband Will of Wilkesboro, a son; Jeff Faw and wife Angel of North Wilkesboro, a step-daughter; Wynnette Queen of North Wilkesboro, a step-son; Mark Blevins and wife Dawn of Thomasville, eleven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. His first wife of 36 years, Norma Jean Laws, and husband Doug remained friends throughout his life.
