Sandra "Sandy" (Cox) Skipper

Ms. Sandra “Sandy” Cox Skipper, age 67 of Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  Private graveside services will be held at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Blevins officiating. 

She was born on September 9, 1957, in Wilkes County to James Arthur and Helen McLain Cox.  Sandy graduated from Wilkes Central High School in 1975 and attended Wilkes Community College.  An active mother, she took great joy in raising her children.  Professionally, she successfully worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation in various roles for over thirty years.  She enjoyed gardening and taking trips with her grandchildren and family to Kiawah Island.  She was passionate about music, dancing, celebrating the Christmas season and spending time with family. 

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Renee Anderson and a brother-in-law, Eugene Love.

She is survived by her mother, Helen Cox; daughter, Angie Hardister Zimmern and husband Bill of Charlotte; son, Nicholas McLain Skipper of Wilkesboro; two grandchildren, Abigail McLain Zimmern and Huntley Samuel Zimmern; sister, Vickie Love; brother, Greg Cox and wife Carolyn; brother-in-law, Earl Anderson; and first cousin and best friend, Pam Dancy.
