Ruth Gentry Brown

Mrs. Martha “Ruth” Gentry Brown, age 87 of Purlear passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at her home. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Tommy Mikeal officiating.  Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

Ruth was born April 6, 1938, in Wilkes County to Arlie RayVaughn and Sarah Emma Brown Gentry.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; William Floyd Brown and infant brother; John Gentry. 

She is survived by three daughters; Cynthia Colbert and husband Donnie, Laura Harless and husband Bobby of North Wilkesboro, Lisa Pierce and husband Greg of Purlear, grandchildren; Will Harless and wife Aly, Wesley Harless and wife Sarah, Hailey Pyatte and husband Bradley, Arlie Brown and fiancée Rhiannon DelCanto, great grandchildren; Addison Orpert, Logan Harless, Jaxson Pyatte and a sister; Ima Lee Crews and husband Grady of Purlear. 

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Autism Society of North Carolina, 5121 Kingdom Way, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27607.
