Mr. Roy Edward Williams, Jr. age 66 of Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Steve Snipes and Rev. Dwayne Fulp officiating. Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home prior to the service.
Roy was born November 9, 1954 in Wilkes County to Roy Edward Williams, Sr. and Sarah Davenport Williams. Roy served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. For many years Roy followed in his father’s footsteps by being a long haul truck driver. Later, he retired from Cook’s as a bike mechanic.
Roy was very active in church for many years. He volunteered with Habit for Humanity and was on their board of directors as well as the board of directors for the Yadkin River Greenway.
In addition to his father, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jean Curtis Williams; a brother; Daniel Williams; and a nephew, Don Williams, Jr.
Roy is survived by his mother, Sarah Davenport; his children, Isaac Williams and wife Melinda of Rio Rancho, NM, Jennifer Williams of Hickory, and Benjamin Williams and fiancé Elaine Cortes of Boston, MA; two grandchildren, Elijah and Josiah Garcia-Williams; a brother Howard Donald Williams, Sr., wife Kathy of Wilkesboro and their son David Williams; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Pat Goforth of Millers Creek.
