Mr. Roy Reeves, age 84 of Millers Creek, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Millers Creek with Rev. Walter Royal, Rev. Gary Stanley, and Rev. Jason Bumgarner officiating. Mr. Reeves will lie in state at the church from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Roy was born April 9, 1937 in Wilkes County to John Ambrose and Cynthia Jane Royal Reeves. He retired from Yadkin Valley Ford as an auto repair technician. He was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church where he served as a longstanding deacon. He was a member of the Junior Order, and the American Auto Restoration for many years. Roy was known for his antique restoration for Mr. Lewis Hill Jenkins, restoring antique Buicks and Cadillacs. This included rebuilding cars from the moonshine era to presidential limousines. Several films and commercials were produced using antique vehicles that were completely restored by Roy. He truly had an art and skill when it came to cars. He was a dedicated husband, daddy (pops), paw paw, great paw paw and brother. Roy always put his family’s needs before his, and he wanted to make sure his family was happy. In later years, he took special care of his beloved wife, Olene.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Vaughn Reeves, Jack Reeves, Bernard Reeves, Bill Reeves, Claude Reeves, Hoyle Reeves, and J.A. Reeves, Jr.
Roy is survived by his wife of the home, Mary Olene Hayes Reeves; two daughters, Vickey R. Williams and husband Mark of North Wilkesboro, and Annette R. Stanley and husband Gary of Millers Creek; four grandchildren, Amber W. Osborne and husband, Ryan, Branna Leigh Williams, Brooke S. Burke and husband, Adam, and Heather Leah Stanley; two great grandchildren, Eli Tucker Burke and Caroline Rhayne Osborne; two brothers, Clate Reeves and wife, Sue of Hays, and Rex Reeves and wife Shelby of Millers Creek.
The family requests anyone attending the service to please wear a face covering.
