Roy Lee Bumgarner, age 83, of Wilkesboro passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at home. Roy was born March 14, 1941 in Wilkes County to Jeter and Nora Pierce Bumgarner. He was a member of Millers Creek Baptist Church and a proud Papa to his grandchildren. Roy was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed traveling around the country in retirement. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sisters, Clara Goforth, Lorene Vannoy, Helen Marlowe, Rachel Walker and Grace Dean Cooper; brothers, Earl Bumgarner and Wayne Bumgarner.

Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine Miller Bumgarner of Wilkesboro; son, Jason Bumgarner of Millers Creek; grandchildren, Ashley Grace Bumgarner and Aiden Paul Bumgarner both of Millers Creek; and their mother Kim Bumgarner of Wilkesboro.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Jim Gore and Pastor Shannon Critcher officiating. Entombment will be at Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of the Heart to Heart Sunday School class at Millers Creek Baptist Church and Aiden Bumgarner.
