Mrs. Rose "Ann" Pennington Elledge, age 76 of Ferguson passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday at Lewis Fork Baptist Church with Rev.  Dwayne Andrews and Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.

Ann was born June 3, 1948, in Caldwell County to Richard Jackson and Rachel Geneva Weaver Pennington. She was a teacher assistant for 35+ years at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School and a teacher for the Good News Club.

Ann “Mawmaw” was loving, fun, intelligent, and the best grandma in the world. She taught us everything, like how to tie our shoes and how to read. Sleepovers were the most fun, and there was never a limit on how many nights in a row you could stay. Everything was fun with Mawmaw, whether it was going for a walk in the woods or gardening in her green house. She was the type of grandma who would make “snack pouches”, let us use her sheets for blanket forts, and knock us down with water balloons. She would even help clean your room and never judge you for how messy it was. Mawmaw could make, fix, and do anything that she set her mind to and taught us all to do the same.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law; Darren Shew.

She is survived by her husband; Larry Elliott Elledge, Sr. of the home, a daughter; Alisa Shew of Wilkesboro, a son; Larry Elledge, Jr. and wife Beverly of Ferguson, four grandchildren; Jennifer Floyd of Ferguson, Brandon Elledge and wife Kelly of Ferguson, Taylor Tilley and husband Josh of Wilkesboro, Lizzie Shew of Wilkesboro, seven great grandchildren; Gracie Elledge, Jason Elledge, Michael Floyd, Joanna Tilley, Vera Elledge, Taytem Correll, Tessemee Correll, two brothers; Roger Dale Pennington of Boomer and Wayne Pennington and wife Margaret of Robinsville, NC.
