Rodger Albert Rigby

Mr. Rodger Albert Rigby, age 77 of North Wilkesboro passed away September 22, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Baptist de LaSalle Catholic Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 30, 2022 with Father John Hannic officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Scenic Memorial Garden at 2:00 PM, with Military Honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1142 Honor Guard.

Rodger was born September 18, 1945 in Toronto, Canada to Albert and Constance Wainwright Rigby. Rodger loved movies, music and cars and was an avid reader. He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968. He was an Eagle Scout and worked in retail all his life retiring from Walmart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Dennis Rigby.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Margaret Rigby, two sons; Ron Rigby and wife Cheryl of Huntersville, NC, Ryan Rigby and wife Stephanie of Wilkesboro, three grandchildren; Bryce Rigby of Huntersville, NC, Cory Rigby and wife Bethany of North Wilkesboro, Aaron Rigby and fiancé Darsy Hernandez of Fayetteville, one great-grandchild; Kinsley Odom, a brother; Jerry Rigby and wife Chico of St. Petersburgh, FL and sister-in-law Mimi Rigby of Land O’ Lakes, FL.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Judes Place Memphis, TN 38105.
