Mr. Robert “RV” Vance Shumate, age 78 of North Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2921 at his home.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Mountlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Rodney Blake and Rev. Christopher Shumate officiating. There will be a public viewing from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Friday, May 28, 2021 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mr. Shumate was born November 8, 1942 in Wilkes County to Otto Enis and Sina Reeves Shumate. He was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church and retired from American Drew after 40 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Faye Johnson Shumate, three brothers; Otis, Plato and Rex Shumate.
He is survived by a son; Robert “Robbie” Vance Shumate, Jr. and wife Tammie McCarter Shumate of Millers Creek, two grandchildren; Christopher Anthony Shumate and wife Ruth of Moravian Falls, Catherine Shumate Matherly and husband Bryant of Moravian Falls and a great granddaughter; Caroline Brooke Matherly, a sister; Betty Handy and husband Junior of North Wilkesboro and a brother; Bill Shumate and wife Georgie of North Wilkesboro.
