Mr. Robert Monroe Joines, age 86 of Millers Creek passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Wilkesboro Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Hefner officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Robert was a twin son born to J.M. “Dock” and Vetra Parsons Joines of the Wilbar Community. He met the love of his life, Lorene, and they married on August 20, 1966. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1964 at Fort Ord California as a Battalion Clerk for the Sergeant Major and Lieutenant Colonel. He was a lifelong, dedicated servant of the Lord and Deacon Emeritus of Wilkesboro Baptist Church and served on many church committees. Robert’s passion was collecting and restoring antique cars. He and his brother James were regular competitors at Oakwoods County Club and he was proud of both of his “Hole in Ones” while golfing. He worked at Northwestern Bank and held numerous positions at Lowe’s Companies, Inc. in North Wilkesboro until his retirement on March 1, 2001.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Aletha Joines, a brother David Joines, two sisters and brothers-in-law; Bernice Bumgarner (Zollie) and Louise Bumgarner (Burl).
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Epeley Joines of the home, a daughter; Dr. Lisa Joines-Myers, son-in-law; Dr. Bill Myers and grandson; Sam Myers all of Cullman, AL, twin brother; James Joines and wife Drucilla of North Wilkesboro, a sister; Marjorie Lankford and husband Bill of Lincolnton, a sister-in-law; Linda Joines of Wilkesboro and many nieces and nephews.
