Robert Blackburn Obituary

Mr. Robert Franklin Blackburn, age 55 of Purlear, died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at his home. 

Private graveside services will be held at Boiling Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Donnie Shumate and Pastor Joey Moore officiating.  Friends may visit Robert Wednesday morning from 8am until noon at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home before the service. 

Mr. Blackburn was born July 14, 1964 in Wilkes County to Shelmer Doyle, Sr. and Ruby Viola Pardue Blackburn.  He was employed for over thirty years by Tyson Engineering Group and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  He served on the Wilkes Rescue Squad from 1989 – 2019 and was a volunteer fireman and first responder with Champion Fire Department. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Blackburn is survived by his daughter, Anna Elizabeth Blackburn and Joseph Andrew Shores of Thurmond; twin sons, Andrew Shelmer and Matthew Joe Blackburn, both of North Wilkesboro; one sister, Martha Pardue Blackburn and husband, Steve Bolden, of Knoxville, TN; and one brother, Shelmer Doyle Blackburn, Jr of Purlear.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to the Ruby Pardue Blackburn Adult Daycare Center, P.O. Box 984, North Wilkesboro NC 28659.
