Ricky Joe Parsons, age 66, of Millers Creek, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 28, 2025.

Ricky was born July 3, 1958, in Ashe County, North Carolina. A lifelong lover of racing, fishing, and hunting, Ricky found joy in simple things and was known for his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. He never met a stranger and had a unique way of making people feel seen and heard.

After a car accident left him paralyzed over 30 years ago, Ricky faced a life of significant physical challenges. But those who knew him best will remember not what he lost—but what he gave. Despite pain and hardship, he remained joyful, kind, and grounded in his faith. Ricky's relationship with Jesus shaped how he lived, how he loved people, and how he endured suffering with strength and grace.

He is survived by his children, Joe Parsons (Chaselyn) and Rachel Parsons; his granddaughters, Lilly and Lucy Parsons; his mother, Kay Parsons; and his sister, Linda Harrison (Brad). He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Shannon Critcher and Rev. Jim Gore officiating.  There will be no formal visitation, but all are invited to join the family for a celebration of his life at Millers Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall following the funeral service at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel on Sunday.  A family graveside service will be held at Mountlawn Memorial Park. 

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Chatham Home Health for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during Ricky’s final days. Their presence was a gift in a difficult time.
