Mr. Richard Hinton Carroll, age 80 of North Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Baptist Home Church with the Pastor David Jones and Dr. Bert Young officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM prior to the service at the church.  Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard and the Air Force National Guard will be in the church cemetery. 

Richard was born on July 23, 1943, in Cumberland County to Roger Lee and Lula Budd Carroll.  He worked at Dorothea Dix Hospital then left to serve his country in the United States Air Force where he spent for four years and was honorably discharged.   He returned to Dorothea Dix Hospital after serving his country and then spent the remainder of his career (28 years) working for the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles.  He served Baptist Home Church as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Rogerlene Faircloth, Delma Lane Dupree, Jessie Lane Wilson, Mary Lou Nichols, Douglas Ann Register, Troyce Ivy; and one brother, Charles Edward Carroll.

He is survived by his wife, Doris McDaniel Carroll of the home; one daughter, Dannette Hincher, and husband Brad of North Wilkesboro; one son, Daniel Carroll of Wilkesboro and partner, Laura Byrd of Wilkesboro; and three grandchildren, Sydney Owens and husband Austin, Chloe Hincher, and Andrew Hincher; an aunt by marriage, Maxine Whittington; and nephew, Steven Faircloth of Fayetteville.
