Rex Dowlin Segraves

Mr. Rex Dowlin Segraves, age 92 of Roaring River, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Pardue officiating.  Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Segraves was born July 22, 1933, in Wilkes County to Arthur Garner and Carrie Victoria Staley Segraves.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Segraves was preceded in death by three sisters, Fern Jailes, Mamie Segraves, and June Call; and seven brothers, Coy Segraves, Samuel Segraves, Archie Segravaes, Norwood Segraves, Howard Segraves, Wallace Segraves, and Thomas Segraves.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Rose Kersey; three daughters, Gwen Best (Ricky) of Winterville, Victoria Absher and Jewell Kersey (Adam), both of Roaring River; one son, Danny Segraves of Pinnacle; six grandchildren, David Best (Danielle), William Best (Jessica), Julie Absher, Daniel Absher (Danielle), Marlena White (Marty), and Amos Schubart; thirteen great-grandchildren, Teegan Best, Allison Best, Ava Best, Wyatt Best, Jalyn Walker, Jaxon Walker, Jayden Walker, Weston Absher, Lucas Absher, Griffin Absher, Sydney White, Nathan White, and Alyson Royal; and one great-great-grandchild, Logan White.
