Mrs. Rebecca Smithey Ferguson, age 79 of Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Michael Brinegar officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Burial will be at Scenic Memorial Gardens.
She was born on August 9, 1946, in Wilkes County to Palmer and Mildred Smithey. She loved taking care of people and treasured time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Roger Ferguson; two sisters, Glenda and Edna; and two brothers, Jack and Eric.
She is survived by one daughter, Amanda Ferguson and husband Jerry of Moravian Falls; two sons, Chad Ferguson of Boomer and Jerry Pearson and wife Teresa of Moravian Falls; nine grandchildren, Brooklyn Faw, Christian Pearson, Ethan Pearson, Shaley Pearson, Logan Cardwell, Nicholas Ferguson, Madison Ferguson, Chase Ferguson and Josiah Ferguson; two sisters, JoAnn Ferguson and husband Charles of Boomer and Linda Faye Pilkington of Purlear; and brother, Greg Smithey of Purlear.
