Ray Monroe Broyhill

Mr. Ray Monroe Broyhill, age 69 of Moravian Falls passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem. 

Graveside services with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be held 2:30 PM Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Scenic Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bill Carrier officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

Mr. Broyhill was born July 30, 1951 in Wilkes County to  Dewey and Minnie Ruth Gambill Broyhill. He served in detachment 1, company D, 505th Engineer Battalion (Heavy Combat) , 18 years in the National Guard, received the National Defense Service Medal & Sharpshooter (Rifle M-16) Medal. U.S. Army 1971-77/National Guard 1977-1993. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hefner and brother inlaw, Jimmy Cardwell. 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Malinda Johnson Broyhill; a daughter, Shannon Walker (Waylon); two grandchildren, Heather Shae Walker and Mason Lee Walker; three sisters, Dorothy Phillips (William), Betty Cardwell , and Gladys Cardwell(Robert; three brothers, Harvey Broyhill (Connie), Ralph Broyhill (Malinda); and Kenneth Broyhill (Daryl); a brother inlaw, William Hefner.
