Rachel Shatley Mitchell

Rachel Shatley Mitchell, age 94, of North Wilkesboro passed away May 6, 2020 at Wilkes Senior Village.  Mrs. Mitchell was born July 24, 1925 in Wilkes County to Gladis Harris and James Isom Shatley.  She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Windy Gap. 

Private graveside service will be held at  Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Windy Gap with Pastor Shannon Critcher officiating. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Frank Mitchell, a son; Lewis Mitchell, one sister and four brothers.  

Survivors include her son; Vernon and Brenda Mitchell of Millers Creek, daughter-in-law; Gwen Mitchell of Anaconda, Montana, granddaughter; Natasha and Kris Nielsen and great grandson; Landen Nielsen of Mechanicsville, VA, three step granddaughters and nine step great grandchildren of Wyoming.  Also surviving are three special sisters; Edith Johnson and Margaret Walker of Winston-Salem and Nancy Privette of Statesville and sister-in-laws; Mae Shatley and Barbara Shatley of North Wilkesboro and many nieces and nephews.  Special thanks to the staff at Wilkes Senior Village for all your loving care and support.
