Mr. Walter Philip Wilson, age 81 of Millers Creek passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation.
A private celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Joel Blevins officiating.
Phil was born May 7, 1939 in Madison County to Walter and Dessie Wilson. He worked at radio stations in Marshall, Canton, Statesville, Morganton, Hendersonville and WKBC in North Wilkesboro, as well as at WBTV in Charlotte. He had several businesses including Modern Electronics, Church Radio and TV, Curtis Mathis, and Big TV’s. Phil was very talented with a great personality. He was great with people, funny and very social. He could play the piano and sang many solos for churches and others. He was a beloved member and deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Wilson and Joe Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Davis Wilson (Jenny) of Millers Creek; one daughter, Elizabeth Oliver and husband Tracy of Millers Creek; one son, Timothy Wilson of North Wilkesboro; two grandchildren, Jonathan Wilson and wife Kendall of Charlotte, and Davis Kent Todd Oliver of Millers Creek; one brother, Dewey Wilson and wife Pat of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
