Mrs. Peggy Marshalene Woody Settle, age 79, of North Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist – Wilkes Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Icenhour officiating.

Peggy was born July 29, 1946, in Mitchell County to Rev. Gem Del and Lillian Jenkins Woody. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Peggy loved travelling and being around people. She worked over thirty years in the medical field at Baptist Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gwyn Settle.

She is survived by her sisters, Judy Chambers (Ronnie) of North Wilkesboro, Connie Blackburn (Bill) of Hamptonville; four nephews, Johnny Childress (Anna), Jamie Swisher (Jennifer), Aaron Chambers (Dana), Andrew Bateman (Katie); great nieces and nephews, Jaylee, Paislee, Treavor and Cheyenne.
