Pauline "Polly" Cothren Sparks

Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Cothren Sparks, age 91 of Roaring River passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation. 

Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Rachel Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wiles and Rev. Earl Dowell officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. 

Mrs. Sparks was born March 10, 1929 in Surry County to Lonnie and Electa Julie Combs Cothren.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Lewis  Everette Sparks, one daughter; Cherry Sparks, one son; Lewis Sparks, two sisters; Shirley Wood, Irene Wood and one brother, Buck Cothren. 

She is survived by two daughters; Carolyn Sparks Garris and husband Roger, Penny Sparks Walker both of Roaring River, three sons: Steve Sparks of North Wilkesboro, Bill Sparks and Jeff Sparks both of Roaring River, eleven grandchildren; Angel Nichols, Melody Lane, Chase Sparks, Morgan Sparks, Chad Garris, Melissa Billings, Will Sparks, Megan Sparks, Eli Sparks, Adam Walker and Nathan Sparks, ten great grandchildren; Cole, Alex, Mia, Melora, Tate, Weston, Cody, Caleb, Nathan and Lathan and three great great grandchildren; Laken, Makena and Hadley and two brothers; Lonnie Cothren and wife Shirley of Statesville and Don Cothren and wife Shirley of Winston-Salem. 

We would like to thank everyone at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation for the care you gave to our mother and grandmother. Everyone was so loving and kind.
