Patricia "Patty" (Morgan) Doby

Patricia “Patty” Morgan Doby of North Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

She was born October 19, 1936, to JR (Whitie) and Jaye Anderson Morgan in the old Wilkes Hospital.

She graduated from Wilkes Central High School and received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Appalachian State Teachers College.  She was a member of Lewis Baptist Church.

Patty was married to David Daniel Doby in 1957.  She and Daniel moved to Charlotte County, Florida where she served as a teacher, a principal and a coordinator of elementary education and federal programs in the Charlotte County education system.  She was named Charlotte County Teacher of the Year in 1981.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Zonta and several educational organizations where she served as officers.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 63 years.

She is survived by cousins, Jack Johnson of North Wilkesboro, Eddie Johnson (Jeannie) of Millers Creek, RC Redmond (Helen) of Statesville, Bill Redmond (Mae) of Statesville, Gwen Coley of Statesville, Tommy Redmond, Jaye Leppard (Allen) of Statesville; and special cousins, Jackie Wright (Terry), Seth Bell (Megan), Debbie Haymans of Punta Gorda, Florida and Dennis Brown of North Wilkesboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 4, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Bruce Rhoades officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  A private burial will be held.
