Mrs. Opal Haynes Billings, age 90 of North Wilkesboro went to her heavenly home on April 26, 2023, at Wilkes Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Center Baptist Church with Rev. David Key and Rev. John T. Vannoy III officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park.                                                   

Opal was born June 22, 1932, in Wilkes County to Went E. and Belva Kilby Haynes. She was retired from Thom McCann Shoe after 27 years of service and was a member of Center Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William Elmore Billings; one daughter; Sonya Johnson; brothers and sisters in law; Ralph and Susie Haynes, Norris and Mary Ann Haynes and Hubert Haynes; son-in-law; Darrell Minton.

She is survived by her daughters; Brenda Minton of North Wilkesboro, Debra Rowe and husband Mike of Sparta and Pamela Blankenship and husband Steve of North Wilkesboro; son in law Gary Johnson of Granite Falls; sister-in-law; Josie Haynes of North Wilkesboro;

five grandchildren; Beth Gay and husband Brian, Adrianne Rowe, Adam Johnson and wife Rebecca, Tracy Lowe and husband David and Steven Blankenship, eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Center Baptist Church 205 Center Baptist Church Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
