Olin Deford Absher, Jr.

Mr. Olin Deford Absher, Jr. age 63, of Statesville passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Gordon Hospice House. 

Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Monday, October 30, 2023 at Cane Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Kenny Absher officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service at the church.  

Olin was born on August 22, 1960, in Wilkes County to Olin Sr. and Catherine Watkins Absher.  Olin worked in a sawmill all his life but his favorite past-time was spent coon hunting and watching racing. Mark Martin was his all-time favorite. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ricky Absher and Vernon Absher.

He is survived by his fiancée, Shirley Lyalls, of the home; four sisters, Patricia Campbell and husband, Charlie, of Grassy Creek, Teresa Lane, Janet Garrison and fiancé, Donnie Frazier, all of North Wilkesboro, Rebecca Fletcher and husband, Dale, of Moravian Falls; one brother, Ray Absher and wife, Teresa, of North Wilkesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell – Gordon Hospice Home, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville NC 28625.
