Mrs. Olene Hayes Reeves, age 87 of Millers Creek passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, January 29, 2024 at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Millers Creek with Rev. Gary Stanley, Rev. Michael Church, and Dr. Trent Craven officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Olene was born March 12,1936 in Wilkes County to Rector and Nellie Johnson Hayes. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church as long as her health allowed. She was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, and was involved with the WMU. Her first job was at the ice cream parlor in North Wilkesboro where Roy and Olene met. She worked in banking in Wilkes County for 40 plus years working at NCNB, Southern National and Wilkes National.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Lee Roy Reeves and a brother; Cecil R. Hayes.
She is survived by two daughters, Vickey R. Williams and husband Mark of North Wilkesboro and Annette R. Stanley and husband Gary of Millers Creek, four grandchildren; Amber Jane (Ryan) Osborne, Brooke Annette (Adam) Burke, Branna Leigh Williams, Heather Leah Stanley, two great grandchildren; Eli Tucker Burke and Caroline Rhayne Osborne, two sisters; Annie Ruth Richardson and friend Cecil Dancy of North Wilkesboro, Martha McCann and husband Carl of Wilkesboro, two brothers; Billy Hayes and wife Kay of North Wilkesboro, Jimmy Hayes and wife Brenda of Wilkesboro.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Pleasant Home Baptist Church, 735 Pleasant Home Church Road, Millers Creek, NC 28651, or to Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Road Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
