Norma Lenora Hester

Norma Lenora Hester, a resident of Woodstock, Maryland, peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2021 at Angels Alert III Assisted Living Home. 

Born in 1936 to Clyde Ovid Hunt and Lollie Gwyn Hunt and raised in Roaring River, North Carolina, Norma went on to graduate from Lincoln Heights High School in 1954 and Winston Salem State Teachers College in 1958. She taught elementary education in several public-school districts across the country until her retirement in 1985.

Norma was a long-time member of Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church in Clarkesville, Maryland, and a proud lifelong “Pearl” member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  She will be remembered for being an outstanding educator, a renowned dessert maker, and for her love of hosting events for friends and family. 

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Oliver Hunt, Lowell Hunt, Ellis Hunt, Edith Hunt, Leon Hunt, Sarah Hunt Whittington, and her husband of thirty years, Donald Hester, Sr. 

Norma is survived by her two children, Donald Hester, Jr. (Demetra) and Princess Hester, her only grandchild, Amaris Hester, and many relatives. 

Friends and relatives are invited to a live streamed Celebration of Life Service scheduled for April 22, 2021 with a pictorial visitation beginning at 4:30 p.m. EST and funeral services starting at 5:00 p.m. EST.

A private interment at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Roaring, NC is scheduled for April 24, 2021.
