Maxine (Minton) Nichols

Mrs. Maxine Minton Nichols, age 88 of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Pilgrim Baptist Church with Rev. Evan Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.   

Maxine was born January 4, 1936, in Iredell County. She was adopted as a young child and raised by Benjamin and Mamie Minton. She was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Maxine enjoyed singing and was part of the Pilgrim Quartet since the age of fourteen. She loved all children and spent many years working as a daycare teacher. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Carson Nichols, grandson Corey Stegall, several biological siblings and several adopted siblings. 

She is survived by two daughters; April Nichols Moore of Winston-Salem, Alison Nichols of Huntersville, two sons; Philip Carson Nichols of Charlotte, Christopher Nichols (Samantha) of Texas, one grandchild; Carson Alexandra Moore of Charlotte, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Wilkes, P.O. Box 306, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659, or Pilgrim Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1517, Millers Creek, NC 28651.
