Mary Byrd Kanupp

Mrs. Mary Byrd Kanupp, age 74 of Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at her home. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Oakwoods Baptist Church with Rev. Christopher Clark, Robert Duncan and Rev. Marvin Blackburn officiating.   Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church. 

Mary was born May 17, 1948 in Wilkes County to Jesse Monroe and Ola Mae Holder Byrd.  She was a member of Oakwoods Baptist Church.  Mary loved to go to the beach and loved her dogs; Molly and Holly.  

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters; Carolyn Byrd, Betty Staley, sister-in-law; Brenda Byrd and two brothers-in-law; Davis Comer and Jerry Staley. 

She is survived by her husband Ray Kanupp of the home, a sister; Katherine Comer, two brothers; Jerry Byrd, Ricky Byrd and wife Kathy, nieces; Kim Dockery and husband Chuck, Susan Coleman, Kelly Byrd Johnson and husband Brian, Kristie Brown and husband Dale, Janet Comer, nephews; Davie Comer and wife Shannon, Randy Staleygreat nieces; Meredith Dockery, Crystal Mesimer, Jessica Mcdonald, Jordan Johnson, great nephews; Jerred Coleman, Bradley Comer, Matthew Comer, Zach Shumate, Ethan Shumate, Jesse Brown and Jacob Brown. 

The family extends a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice.
