Mary Brown Carter, 92, of Danville, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
Born on October 11, 1930, she was a daughter of the late William Marshall and Thelma Baity Brown. Mary was married to Robert Clarence Carter, Jr., who predeceased her on January 24, 1968.
Mary was employed by Dan River Mills and later Healthtex as a Quality Control Inspector. She loved spending time with her family and pets. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time in the garden. Most recently, you could find Mary watching western movies and television shows as well as feeding and watching the birds. She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, Marsha C. Garren, and husband Ronnie and Brenda C. Minter, and husband, Don; four grandchildren, Robert Garren, and wife, Lindsay, Juliana Carter, and husband, Brad, Becky Bridges and John Minter, and wife, Amanda; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dwight Brown and Charles Brown, and wife, Ann; a sister, Geneva Reece, and husband, Tony and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Frank Brown.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 11:00 am until 11:45 am at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Reverend Nancy Stanton McDaniel and Mr. Donald Crews officiating. Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park.
