Mr. Malcolm Calvin “Cal” Barber, age 67 of North Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Rickard’s Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Richard Watts and Rev. Casey Walker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Barber was born July 24, 1953 in Wilkes County to Malcolm Julius and Edna Neal Barber. Malcolm loved to sing, he was the Director of the Men’s Ensemble Choir at Richard’s Chapel, he was in the Gospel Choir, a member of the cemetery committee and chairman of the Trustee Board. Malcolm loved his family and his church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Barber of the home, two step-daughters; Amanda Redmon and husband Seth of Durham, Sasha Harrison and husband Travis of Norlina, two grandchildren; Travis and Kai Harrison, two sisters; Joyce Shelton and husband Gary of California, Angela Adams and husband Charles of Georgia, four brothers; Julius Barber and wife Susie, Floyd Barber and wife Katie, Marvin Barber and wife Jacquline all of North Wilkesboro and Johnny Barber and wife JoAnn of Wilkesboro, two sisters-in-law; Dr. Linda Alexander of Winston-Salem and Sybil Bowick of Durham, one brother-in-law; James Bowick of Lenoir, mother-in-law; Frances Bowick of Lenoir and his beloved dog; Chuckles Barber.
