Lynne (Conner) Rhodes

Mrs. Lynne Conner Rhodes, age 63 of Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center. 

Lynne was born June 15, 1962, in Wilkes County to Kurt and Darlene Harris Conner. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon “Dusty” Ellsworth Rhodes, Jr., her son, Gordon “D” Ellsworth Rhodes, III and her nephew, Harrison Wilson. 

She is survived by two sisters, Jane Shumate (Charlie) of Charlotte, and Ellen Wilson (Tim) of North Wilkesboro, as well as her nephews Alex Shumate, Owen Shumate, Michael Darnell, Jack Pinnell, Joe Wickman, John Wickman, Hunter Sturkie, Stewart Sturkie and her niece Lauren Orzechowski. 

Lynne attended Radford University in Virginia and returned home where she met Dusty who was truly the love of her life. She was a devoted and proud mother to her son, D., and treasured the many memories they created together as a family. Later in life she returned to work in customer service at the Diagnostic Center in Wilkes and the YMCA where she was known for her warm personality and kindness toward others. Lynne loved sports, especially basketball and football, and could always be found cheering on her favorite team, the NC State Wolfpack.  She and her family shared a love of travel, visiting many places together, including national parks and the beach.  One of her happiest places was Sunset Beach, where she looked forward to spending time every summer.  Lynne also cherished time with her many dear friends, most of whom had been life long friends. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rhodes Memorial Golf Tournament (for Samaritan Kitchen of Wilkes), ℅ First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1145, North Wilkesboro, N.C. 28659.
