Lona Belle Horton

Ms. Lona Belle Horton, age 81 of North Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, August 8, 2022 at Thankful Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Jackson and Rev. Ronald Howell officiating.  The body will be placed in the church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM prior to the service.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

Ms. Horton was born July 21, 1941 to Hettie Parsons Horton and Bynum Horton.  Ms. Horton retired from Holly-Farms after 27 years of service.  She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son; Bruce Eric Horton and his father; Burke D. Carlton, two brothers; Vaughn C. Horton and Raford Horton, two sisters and a brother-in-law; Dalphne H. Barnes and husband Harrison and Artie Sue Barnes.

She is survived by her seven children; Dwight E. Horton of Oklahoma City, Vivian A. Fuller, Beverly D. Horton, Warren Jr. Horton, Yvonne H. Boles and Bonita K. Harless and Tonya M. Horton all of Wilkesboro, NC, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, Don Hariston; a special friend who helped her daily until the Lord called her home, Maxine Carlton and Lula Carlton life-long friends and Garnett Clark, a dear friend. 

Pallbearers will be; Emmett Jacobs, Dwayne Carlton, Ed Lee Carlton, Josh Flemings, Harvey Fowler, Vincent Barnes and Nigel Carlton.
